The Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball is set for Saturday, Jan. 23 at the new National Guard Armory on U.S. 98. Cocktail hour will be from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m., and the main event will begin at 8 p.m.
The theme this year is “The Greatest Cause on Earth.” Bullet Proof, a local band, will provide the entertainment. Something new this year will be ax throwing.
The ball is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Junior Auxiliary program, which supports various community projects such as Crown Club, clean-up days at the City Park, Stuff the Bus, community education and much more.
At the event, the JA Citizen of the Year will be announced. Last year Mark Carithers was the recipient.
There is still time to submit a nomination, which can be done by visiting the JA Facebook page or emailing them at juniorauxiliarycolumbiams@gmail.com.
Previous citizens of the year are encouraged to display their flags the week of the ball.
In order to maintain the proper guidelines due to the pandemic, everything will be spread out more to allow for social distancing. JA is encourages everyone to wear masks.
There will be a live auction and a silent auction that night. Some of the items up for auction include a vacation, a gun, sports memorabilia and many other items. As the ball draws closer, the auction items will be announced on the JA social media page.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased from any JA member or by emailing them at the aforementioned email address. n
