The last days of the free Railroad Exhibit at The Marion County Museum & Archives will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-25. The Railroad Exhibit includes five running model trains, a Junior Engineer play area with Mickey Mouse engine to ride, a model of Main Street Columbia, the Marion County Courthouse and the Pearl River and country scenes that create a great recognizable layout for the model trains.
Coming in March will be more old photos from the B.B. Bradley collection. This will be the second exhibit of Bradley photos showing the life and times of Marion County citizens. We will also display the previous exhibit from last year as well as a slide show of the work. Come find yourself and old family members and see the older landscape of businesses you have grown up with.
The exhibit is sponsored by The Marion County Historical Society with support from the Mississippi Humanities Counsel through an ARP grant.
Permanent exhibits in the museum include Military, Sports, Rodeo, Civil War, Civil Rights, Gov. Hugh White, Medical, Native American lithics and old pioneer artifacts.
The Museum is located at 200 Second St., at the west end of Second St across from City Hall in the old Gulf & Ship Island Train depot.
Hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
