Dear Editor,
My name is Alphonso Wright.
My objective for this letter is to visit the orphanage in Liberia, West Africa, where I came from. I’m seeking your financial assistance to help my orphanage brothers and sisters acquire the necessities they need while I can. I am most fortunate and appreciative to have had the opportunity to come to the United States of America; my heart is still connected to my brothers and sisters at the orphanage. I know what it is like to be without the basic necessities.
I came to the U.S.A. as an exchange student in 2011 from Amazing Grace Orphanage in Liberia, West Africa. My time here has been productive. Throughout my stay in the U.S., I received my High School Diploma in 2016, my associate degree from Pearl River Junior College during the COVID crisis in the 2019 - 2020 school year, and became a U.S.A. citizen in 2021. I am pursuing my bachelor’s in Biological Science at the University of Southern Mississippi. My goal is to become a medical lab technician.
Since coming to the U.S., I have not been able to visit Africa because most green card holders found it difficult or have been denied re-entry into the U.S. I did not want to take the chance until I obtained my citizenship. Now that I can travel back and forth to Liberia, I look forward to visiting the orphanage.
With your financial help, I plan to acquire the needed items at the orphanage. These include, but are not limited to, food, clothes, shoes, over-the-counter medication, school materials, body materials like shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, and personal, hygienic products. Purchases will also include mosquito nets and repellent coils. Your support will genuinely impact the lives of these children.
The purchases will be made in Liberia because transporting goods on the plane costs more than buying the materials in Liberia. The recipients and I would greatly appreciate your willingness and ability to assist. This ministry mission to Liberia will occur from January 10th - 19th, 2024.
Finally, I am partnering with New Life Fellowship Ministries, Inc., to be the fiscal sponsor for this ministry endeavor. This ministry is a 501c3, community faith-based organization that will be able to account for all donations and expenditures of said funds.
