Columbia head coach Kyle Lindsey, a Purvis alum, was approved as the next head coach of the Purvis Tornadoes at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Lindsey is set to take over for the retiring Tony Farlow at his alma mater following the season. The former Tornado was part of Purvis’ 2004 and 2005 Class 3A state championships, and now he returns home after a six-year stint as the Wildcats' skipper.
“I can’t thank Columbia enough for what it’s meant to me and my family. They’ve really taken us in with open arms, all the way from me professionally to how everyone in the community has treated my wife and kids. This is a second home to me, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m going to miss it a ton,” Lindsey explained. “The opportunity to go back home was a big one. Honestly, when I sat down and weighed this, it wasn’t something I could pass up. I’m excited about my future, and I think there’s a bright future here at Columbia for the kids here. They’ve got a taste of winning and getting deep in the playoffs, and they’re guys that like to grind it out and work hard. There’s a lot of experience coming back, so I think there’s a bright future here as well.”
