Paid political announcement
Robert Cole of the Improve community is hoping to unseat Senator Joey Fillingane in the Republican primary. They are the only two candidates running for District 41, so the race will be decided in the primary on Aug. 8.
Cole is married to Jinger Thompson Cole, formerly of Collins, Miss. They have two sons, Remington, 5, and Kason, 3. Robert is the pastor of Grace Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, farms roughly 200 acres in Marion and Lamar counties, raising cattle and hay, and is employed by Hattiesburg Coca-Cola.
When asked about the race, Cole says he’s excited. “As near as I can tell, there hasn’t been a senator from Marion County since Mr. Emerson Stringer back in the 80s and there hasn’t been many of them period. To think that I could give us that kind of voice in Jackson is both exciting and humbling.”
Cole wants the voters to know that he will do as much door to door campaigning as possible, but with a district consisting of all of Marion and Covington counties and considerable portions of Lamar and Walthall counties that there is no way to see everyone. However, if you want to talk he will have a booth at the Okatoma Festival in Collins on Saturday, May 6, and at the Dairy Festival in Tylertown on Saturday, June 3, or feel free to give him a call at (601) 731-8449.
