The Columbia Police Department was dispatched to the parking lot of Walmart Supercenter located at 1001 US-98, Columbia, MS 39429 in response to an incident involving a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, detectives discovered that inside a 2007 Toyota Corolla, a white male was found with an apparent self-inflicted, fatal gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified as James Dutch Pittman, a 31-year-old resident of McComb, Mississippi. Pittman had been reported missing by his family three days prior to this unfortunate discovery.
Columbia Police Chief Michael Kelly expressed his deep concern and compassion for the family, friends, and all those affected by this devastating event. He has requested the community to join in offering prayers and support during this difficult time.
