In the early morning hours of Saturday, an altercation occurred in the parking lot of The Grove on Pecan Drive that led to an individual being shot and killed.
The Columbia Police Department, along with the Columbia Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and AAA Ambulance, responded to the scene just after 2 a.m.
Thomas Allen, 20, of Columbia was arrested at 8 a.m. Saturday on second-degree murder charges, and the CPD confirmed Allen is involved.
The CPD said it could not comment further at this time as it remains an active investigation. The department has also not given the coroner permission to release the name of the victim.
