The 69th Annual Marion County Cattlemen’s Association Rodeo is right around the corner and is set to deliver fun, excitement and entertainment for the entire family. The rodeo will be at the Columbia Expo Center March 15-16, beginning at 7:30 p.m. both days.
The rodeo will be full of events, including bull riding, barrel racing, bareback riding, saddle bronc, team roping, breakaway roping, calf roping and steer wrestling.
An event that can be entered by anyone is the Wild Cow Milking contest. Four teams of four will be able to enter both nights, and the winning team will earn a $200 cash prize. The teams have to run and catch a wild cow, milk it into a bucket and return the bucket back to the announcer.
The special guest act this year will be The Misfit Cowboy, a “specialty performance act rooted in Western flare, with a saddle brock trick trained American Red Brahman Bull as the centerpiece,” according to his website. His act includes whips, ropes, gun spinning and “a whole lot of fire.” The Misfit Cowboy was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta.
Tickets at the door are $12 for adults and $6 for children. Children 6 years old and younger get in free. Advanced tickets are
available for $10 and $5 for adults and children, respectively, and can be purchased at Town & Country Feed, Barrett’s Garden Center and Boot Country.
