The May meeting of the Calliopean Club was held on Monday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Broad Street Restaurant with 17 members present.
President Connine Hitt welcomed everyone and read the thought for the day, “The will of God will not take us where the grace of God cannot sustain us.” She then asked Beverly Haddox to come and bring our devotion for the day and offer prayer over the food and the meeting.
Next on the program was the installation of the new 2023-2024 officers. President Connie Hitt read each officer their duties and asked if they would accept that responsibility. Those being istalled were Carol May (Reporter/Scrapbook), Doris Broom (Historian), Shelia Simon (Treasurer), Cheryl Rankin (Corresponding Secretary), Gloria Willaford (President), Donna McKenzie (First Vice President), Bet Hammond (Second Vice President), Beverly Haddox (Recording Secretary) and Connie Hitt (Parliamentarian). Each new officer was challenged to support the club and each other.
Members present included May, Broom, Simon, Rankin, Willaford, McKenzie, Hammond, Haddox, Hitt, Anna Darby, Quida Ferrell, Jo Ann Ingram, Doris Jordan, Nora Lott, Helen Thornton, Wanda Westmoreland and Janet Rayborn.
