A Saturday night checkpoint in eastern Marion County netted an arrest and serious drug charges for a Sandy Hook man.
“Deputies made contact with Kelsey Rokee Collins and smelled marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle,” Marion County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Pete Williams said. “Through investigation, they found him to be in possession of crack cocaine, powdered cocaine, hydrocodone and marijuana. The narcotics were packaged in a way consistent with sales.”
Collins, 22, was then charged with four counts of possession with intent to distribute and bond was set in Marion County Justice Court at $100,000, with $25,000 allotted for each count. Collins remained in the Marion County Jail as of deadline Thursday. Deputies also seized more than $800 in cash. The investigation is continuing.
“We’re proud of our deputies. Their hard work pays off and they have been able to take numerous dangerous drugs off the street,” Williams concluded.
