A Columbia man is facing a charge after a single-vehicle wreck on Brushy Creek Road Saturday night left a passenger seriously injured.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office arrested Timothy Earl Allen, 46, and charged him with "DUI: negligence of driver results in death or disfigurement."
Allen was driving on Brushy Creek Road with a passenger when he crashed, and the passenger was flown to Forrest General Hospital in serious condition.
Marion County Chief Investigator Jamie Singley said the matter is still under investigation. The sheriff's office is not releasing the name of the injured person.
The crime Allen is charged with carries a penalty of five years to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Brushy Creek Road is in southeast Marion County between Lampton Hilltop Road and Columbia Purvis Road. The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded at 9:02 p.m. Saturday to the crash, as well as the sheriff's office.
