The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has made three arrests in two different cases recently related to alleged crimes involving juveniles.
On Dec. 30, a teenage girl was reported missing in Marion County. It was alleged she met a young man via social media and that she could be in Louisiana. With the help of Louisiana law enforcement, specifically Ascension Parish, the teenager was located the next day and returned home in the early morning hours on Jan. 1.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals Alex Herrera, 16, who is being charged as an adult, and Cassie Allison Gibbs, 27, both of Prairieville, La. Both were arrested on kidnapping charges with bonds of $100,000 each.
Herrera has posted bond, while Gibbs remained in the Marion County Jail as of Tuesday.
Sheriff Berkley Hall said this was not a matter of a grab-and-go kidnapping, but rather the teenager was not of age to give consent to go.
Hall also credits Ascension Parish and the Louisiana law enforcement agencies for helping locate her.
In another matter, John Richard Baylor, 32, of Foxworth was arrested and charged with two counts of molesting, which stemmed from an alleged incident on Jan. 8. Baylor was in the Marion County Jail as of Tuesday under a bond of $100,000 for each count.
Investigator Brad Anderson is in charge of both of these cases and was unavailable for comment.
