A Columbia woman allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana in her bra to an inmate she was visiting at the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility.
Annie Nicole Jefferson, 32, subsequently found herself behind bars Wednesday and charged with possession of narcotics inside a correctional facility.
During a regularly scheduled visitation, officials said they searched Jefferson and found the pot. They said she was believed to be bringing it to the inmate she was scheduled to visit.
Johnson also was found to have had two warrants for contempt of court for failure to pay fines. Bond was set at $5,000 on the possession charge and the contempt warrants were for $562.50 and $171. Jefferson had not bonded out as of deadline Tuesday.
If convicted, Jefferson could face up to a mandatory seven years in prison.
