Career fair looking to grow

Columbia High is hoping to add some additional perspectives for its Feb. 11 career fair that will bring in all the high schools in Marion County plus surrounding areas.

Donna Rackley in the CHS guidance office said she has nearly 40 companies committed, and she’s hoping to get someone in the following businesses/occupations to share with students about their field of work:

• Trucking

• Taxidermy

• Hair styling/barbering

• Hotel/restaurant

• Air conditioning/heating

• Veterinary medicine

• Plumbing

• Construction/architecture

• Church ministry

• Dental

• Florist

• Landscaping

• Travel agency

Rackley said she wants to expose the students to as many professions as possible and help show them that there are plenty of career options that can keep them in Columbia.

Anyone interested in participating can call Rackley at 736-5334.

The third annual CHS career fair will be at the Charles Boston Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 11. Seniors from Columbia High, Columbia Academy, East Marion, West Marion and Tylertown will attend, and Rackley said she’s working to get Jeff Davis County.
