A wreck blocked both eastbound lanes of U.S. 98 outside Foxworth Monday night, and emergency personnel were on the scene treating victims.
A Ford Mustang with Marion County tags sat in the middle of the highway and was badly damaged, with the front driver’s side tire missing.
The initial call over the radio reported the driver was able to get out of the vehicle himself, although the extent of the injuries of anyone in the accident was not immediately clear.
A few hundred yards down 98, a GMC Sierra 3500 had heavy damage to its driver’s side. The truck was pulling a horse or cow trailer, but there were no animals on it and the trailer did not appear to have been hit in the wreck.
The accident happened about 3 miles west of Foxworth near Shiloh-Firetower Road.
The Foxworth Volunteer Fire Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene, as well as AAA Ambulance. The Highway Patrol was en route.
The names of the drivers, as well as exactly what happened to cause the wreck, was not immediately clear. For more details, see Thursday’s C-P.
