A manhunt for a suspect off of Mississippi 13 North ended with a capture in the woods today.
Kelby Glenn Jordan, 22, of New Augusta was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, burglary and felony fleeing. He was booked at the Marion County Jail shortly after 1 p.m. today.
Members of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol and Prentiss Police Department participated in the search, as well as the Washington Parish Correctional Facility K-9 unit.
The Sheriff's Office said in a social media post that it received information from Prentiss Police Department about a stolen vehicle last seen on Highway 13 North traveling toward Marion County. Deputies made contact with the vehicle in the Goss community, where Jordan allegedly struck a Sheriff's Office vehicle and nearly hit a deputy, according to the statement.
A pursuit ensued where the vehicle wrecked, and the suspect fled into the woods on Old Highway 13 North in the Expose community, the Sheriff's Office said.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter while the dogs began tracking the suspect. Along the west side of Mississippi 13 North in the area of the Expose community, emergency vehicles were parked with officers watching the woods holding rifles.
Jordan was caught shortly before noon.
