Marion County is under a tornado watch until 7 tonight as a large band of storms are moving in from the west.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, multiple rounds of storms will be coming through the area starting around 2 p.m.
The forecast for Marion County says significant severe thunderstorms and
tornados are likely with strong tornados possible. Some
thunderstorms could also produce damaging winds up to 70 mph and
large hail up to tennis-ball size.
On Easter an EF-4 tornado went through Walthall, Jeff Davis, Covington and Jones, causing multiple fatalities and destroying hundreds of homes. An EF-3 tornado caused damaged in Lawrence County and caused two fatalities, a Lawrence County deputy sheriff and his wife.
