After a four-month absence, Marion County School Board President Keith Stuckey was able to attend the meeting Monday.
Stuckey suffered two strokes and has been going through rehabilitation. Before he opened the meeting with prayer, he addressed the audience.
“I just want to thank everyone for the monetary donations, the love, the hugs and prayers we have received. You just wouldn’t believe the support you receive out of a group of people in a situation like I have been in. There are no words to describe it. Continue to pray for me,” he said.
The board approved four fundraisers at West Marion High School, six at East Marion Elementary and three at East Marion High School.
The board approved the cancellation of the 16th Section lease assignment for Mary Eaton RES .75 acres in Section 16-3N-18W. A new lease with a longer lease period for Eaton was also approved.
The board also approved the following lease assignments:
Everette Stringer FST-H 40 acres in Section 16, 2N, 13E to Kevin Crozier
Everette Stringer AGR 110 acres in Section 16, 2N, 13 to Tanner Trahan.
The board approved the lease of Jason Simmons and Samantha Morgan RES 5 acres in Section 16-4N-12E.
The next board meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in the library of West Marion High School.
