As storms swept through the region this morning, Marion County law enforcement and first responders were kept busy.
Firefighters from South Marion, Pine Burr and Foxworth responded shortly after 10 a.m. to a report of a tree that had fallen on a car on Mississippi 43 near Mail Route Road.
Firefighters used chainsaws to cut the tree off of the car. The driver was checked by a crew from AAA Ambulance Service and appeared to have minor injuries.
Crews from MDOT are assisting in the tree removal. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is also on the scene.
In Columbia, some residents lost power earlier when a tree fell on power lines on Broadmoor Avenue.
Storms are expected to remain in the area for several hours.
