Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, in Gates Road Cemetery for Shelli M. Blackwell, 55, of Petal, who died on Friday, Oct. 15. Dr. Dean Register officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She loved her family and friends immensely. She was devoted to presenting the Gospel through music. Her personality was infectious to all who knew her. When the family thinks of her, they remember her love for her makeup, jewelry and her pets. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luther “Lee” Barnes; mother, Shelia Barnes, and one brother, Lee Barnes Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, David W. Blackwell; one daughter, Ashlee Kate; one son, Merritt Blackwell; three brothers, Jeffery Barnes, Stephen Barnes and Doug Barnes, and a number of nieces and nephews.
