The 12 members of the 1971 Class attended the reunion. They are, front row from left, Doreen Williamson Brantley, Carol Lee Hart Breakfield, Ann Bennett Broom, Debbie Ladner Bryant, Nancy Dunaway Stribling, and Barbara Barker Pittman. Back Row Dale Watts, Mike Watts, Gerald Haddox, Reggie Smith, Wesley Bass and Lavon Haden. The other eight members were not able to attend due to covid or their jobs. They are the first graduating Class of Columbia Academy from the facility they have now. They graduated on Mike Watts’ birthday, May 28, 1971. Nancy Dunaway Stribling was the very first Homecoming Queen and Ann Bennett Broom was the Basketball maid. That year, Columbia Didn’t have a football team. Gerald Haddox was the first student body President. Mike Watts was the first Vice President and Carol Lee Hart Breakfield was the first Secretary-Treasurer of Columbia Academy. They were Dottsie Herberger, Julia Moree, Linda Carson, Beth Thompson, who taught English at the University of Alabama until she had some health issues, Mary Young and Melinda Duff. | Photo submitted
