Foxworth native Shania Barr will hold a book signing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Columbia-Marion County Public Library.
Barr graduated in 2005 from West Marion High School. In May 2014, she received her master’s degree in psychology from William Carey University. She works in the mental health field as a multi-service supervisor for adults who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Barr said she has always had a passion for helping others and has aspirations to one day have her own private counseling practice. One of her goals is to bring mental health awareness to underserved communities. She plans to use her writing platform as a way to do that. She signed with Twyla T. Presents publishing company in August 2018, where she has released two completed series and a novella.
Writing a book has always been something Barr said she wanted to accomplish, but she never imagined having the opportunity to be an author of books.
She lives in Hattiesburg with her husband, Jimmy Barr, where she enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending church, writing, reading, traveling and enjoying life to the fullest. She writes urban fiction for adults.
