Burglars stole guns and ransacked a house near Goss this week, and the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
Sheriff Ron Strickland said someone kicked in the door at the Watts residence on River Road.
It happened between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. Foresters saw the door open and dogs out running and called the homeowner. It had rained all morning and there was a tire mark that hadn’t been there previously.
Missing items included a shotgun, pistol, change bucket and Xbox with games and accessories. The burglars also ransacked a bedroom, clothing closet and medicine cabinet, presumably looking for quickly sellable items.
The owners said the burglars left in a hurry as if something spooked them, but it was after 6 p.m. when deputies arrived.
