Downtown will come alive again Friday night, and shoppers will have a chance to visit a variety of merchants and enjoy entertainment and fun for the children.
Candlelight, Carols and Claus is slated to take place downtown from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a host of activities.
“Businesses are planning to stay open,” Main Street Columbia Director Nik Ingram said. “A lot of businesses will be open. Some will have activities and entertainment. Hill Hardware will have a pianist in the store and of course, there will be Christmas music in the streets. We’ll have several light shows during the evening, maybe every 30 minutes or so.”
Among the activities set to take place are an appearance by Mr. and Mrs. Claus, where Mrs. Claus will be reading “The Night Before Christmas” at 8 p.m.
Professional pictures with Santa will be available at Sweet Olive Boutique, Letters to Santa can be written at the Berry Patch, the Grinch will be on hand at Cook & Fortenberry Pharmacy, kids can make reindeer food at ‘Tis Sew Sweet, and Grinch Train rides will be available on Second Street.
Ingram said the Christmas lights and music will also be on every night from 6 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m. to give people a chance to view them during the holiday season.
