The All-State Choir for Mississippi has finally returned after being suspended for the past two-and-a-half years due to COVID restrictions. It is back on and will be taking place at USM in Hattiesburg.
Every school in Mississippi will be able to participate by offering students the chance to attend. The number of students chosen for the other schools is unknown but there can only be five students chosen from CES.
Students auditioned a few weeks ago for Daphine Hogan, CES music teacher, where she chose the top five singers. Analeigh Baker, Makenzie Holland, Avery Dewitt, Sadie Hunt and Audrey Claire Wallace were the singers chosen to represent CES.
The special moment that stuck out to Hogan was their excitement when they were chosen. While the students are excited to be the finalists for CES, they will have to re-audition by video for the Mississippi Educators Music Association (MEMA). They will send the songs for the audition to Hogan, and students will have to learn them in two weeks’ time. Those over the program will choose the final All-State Choir participants after viewing all of the video submissions.
The tentative date for those who make it is the first of December. If chosen, they will go on their trip lasting for a total of three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and learn songs with other talented singers from around the state.
Congratulations to these five talented singers as they represent our school at USM in the winter!
