Columbia Academy has announced its homecoming court that will preside over the festivities on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. The night will end with the presentation of the court and the crowning of the queen. This will be during the football game against Simpson Academy at James E. Pope Field.
Representing Columbia Academy as Homecoming Queen is Victoria Pace. She is the daughter of Kristi and Scott Dease of Oak Grove and Dan Pace of Columbia. Her escort will be Drew Havard, son of Kim and Vince Havard of Oak Grove.
Piper Dease, Victoria’s step-sister, will serve as Flower Girl to the Queen. She is the daughter of Lisa Dease of Bunker Hill and Kristi and Scott Dease of Oak Grove. Crown Bearer for the Queen will be Vann Price. Vann is the son of Sarah Vann of Columbia and Cole Price of Columbia.
At CA, Victoria is very involved in various activities, while maintaining a spot on the Honor Roll. She is a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Mu Alpha Thera, JCJC Math and Science Team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She serves as recording secretary of the Columbia Crown Club. Victoria has cheered for the Cougars since elementary school. She is currently serving as the cheer captain. Victoria also plays on the basketball and tennis teams. During her sophomore year, her class elected her as Homecoming Maid to represent her class.
Madison McNease has been chosen by the Cougar football team as this year’s Football Maid. She is the daughter of Lance McNease of Bassfield and Tabitha Davis of Bassfield. Her escort will be Parker Mattox, son of Amber and Matt Mattox of Foxworth. Madison chose her sister, Kinsley Owens, to be her Flower Girl. She is the daughter of Tabitha Davis of Bassfield and Chris Owens of Columbia. Madison has been an Honor Roll student during her time at CA. She has been a member of various clubs and is currently serving as Senior Class President. She has enjoyed being a Cougar cheerleader since Junior High. Madison is a member of the Lady Cougar basketball team and the CA golf team. She volunteers her time through her membership in the Key Club, Columbia Crown Club and other service organizations.
Senior Maid is Lauren Rowley. She is the daughter of Charla and Gerald Rowley of Foxworth. Her escort will be her twin brother, Evan Rowley. At CA, Lauren has been very active during her 10 years. She has been involved on the field, court and in the classroom. Lauren has been a member of the basketball and softball team, where she has won numerous awards. She was voted as most athletic and currently serves as vice-president of her senior class. Through all of her activities, she remains an Honor Roll student.
The junior class elected Gracie Graham to represent their class at Junior Maid. She is the daughter of Hope and Jered McDaniel of Columbia. Gracie chose Colby Thompson, son of Andrea and Chris Thompson of Columbia, to be her escort. Gracie has been a CA cheerleader for five years, and during this time she was chosen as a UCA All-American and UCA Cheer Camp. She was chosen as class favorite and wittiest. Gracie is a member of many organizations at CA; some of these include DECA, Key Club and the Columbia Crown Club.
Representing the sophomore class as Sophomore Maid is London Meitzler. London is the daughter of Casey and Eric Meitzler of Good Hope and Kimby Hunt of Oak Grove. She will be escorted by Robert Johnson, son of Amy and Chris Johnson of Columbia. London has been a member of the Cougar cheer team during her three years at CA and a member of the Columbia Academy track team. London has won several track awards in various events. She loves to draw and has placed in the district art contests.
This year’s Freshman Maid is Natalie Ragan. She is the daughter of Jacqueline and Jim Ragan of Columbia. Natalie chose Cody Fortenberry as her escort. He is the son of Rebecca and Chris Fortenberry of Cedar Grove. Natalie is a member of the cross country team, track team, basketball team and currently serving as captain of the JV cheer squad. She is an All-State runner for cross country. Natalie enjoys being a member of the Dusty Club.
Homecoming at CA is always full of traditions, excitement, friendships and school spirit. This year on Sept. 28 will be no exception.
The first presentation of the court and the pep rally will be at 8:30 a.m. in G.G. Flynt Gymnasium. The annual homecoming parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the former Orleans Furniture location on Mississippi 13 North and proceed through downtown, ending at City Park. At 6:15 p.m., the pre-game festivities will begin on James E. Pope Field. The Columbia Academy Cougars will play host to the Simpson Academy Cougars at 7 p.m.
Finally, the crowning of the Queen will take place at halftime.
