Want to put your Columbia Wildcats pride in the form of a license plate?
You can do it now after the introduction of the plate at a recent Columbia School District Board of Trustees meeting recently.
Superintendent Jason Harris said last Friday that the plates will be available soon.
“The cost is $31, with $24 of that going to the school district foundation,” he said. “The plates will be available to the public after the first 10 are produced. It should be within the next 10 days or two weeks.”
Harris said the process of getting the license plate approved by the state took some effort.
“We had Rep. Ken Morgan involved,” he said. “It’s a process to get everything completed in Jackson.”
Harris showed the plate to members of the Board, who reacted positively.
“It looks great,” Vice President Rene Dungan said.
The license plate is a valid Mississippi plate, according to Harris.
“You don’t have to live in Marion County to purchase one,” he said. “You just have to be a Mississippi resident. You can get it anywhere in the state. You just have to go down to the tax assessor’s office, pay for it and they will put it in the mail.”
