For the first time Marion County will be represented by a Little Miss Hospitality.
Marion Jordan, 6, a kindergartener at Columbia Primary School, was crowned in front of her classmates Friday.
“Miss Hospitality is getting into a new program, Little Miss Hospitality for ages 6 to 10,” Danielle Whittington said. “This year, Little Miss Hospitality will join Marion County’s Miss Hospitality in Hattiesburg at the Saenger Theater in July for the statewide event.”
Jordan, the daughter of Will and Melissa Jordan of Columbia, is the granddaughter of Baxter and Nina White of Columbia and Mike and Sara Jordan of Raymond. She has two younger brothers, Will Darcy and Max.
Marion said she loves to read, play outside and go to ballet class.
“She’ll get to go to many events as Little Miss Hospitality,” Whittington said. “She’ll be at ribbon cuttings and festivals. The Columbia Rotary Club is helping to sponsor the entry fees. We’re hoping to grow the program and have an actual pageant. Right now, Miss Hospitality is a selection process.”
This year’s Miss Hospitality is slated to be named soon, according to Whittington.
“The program offers so many opportunities for contestants,” she said. “All of the counties don’t send a representative to state. We always like to send one because of all of the scholarships and things available.”
Marion Jordan received a crown and sash that are similar to the one that will be worn by Marion County’s Miss Hospitality at functions when she is named. That title will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
