Thursday the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announced that Marion County has been included for federal public assistance from FEMA regarding the Pearl River flooding in February.
Mississippi 587 between Foxworth and Morgantown received damaged when the floodwaters washed out a portion of the road. Old Foxworth Road in Columbia also had a part of the road washed away and another portion of the road was cut.
In addition to the roads being damaged, homes off of Mississippi 43, Camp Lane and Carroll Loop in Morgantown and in the northern parts of the city limits were flooded.
After receiving 21.25 inches of rain from Dec. 1 until middle of February, the Pearl River left its bank and crested at 25.6 feet, the third-highest ever.
