Gov. Tate Reeves in his daily briefing today announced there will be no further closures as of 8 a.m. Monday. Reeves said the state is dealing with two crisis, the coronavirus and economic catastrophe.
“All businesses are allow to reopen,” Reeves said at the briefing. “This does not mean the threat is gone.”
His new plan “Safe Return” to take effect Monday at 8 a.m. and will last until June 15 at 8 a.m. At that time, Reeves said they will reevaluate. However, the previous guidelines set out for various businesses must still be continued.
Reeves said people also need to use common sense and take personal responsibility in going about out and about. He still is urging social distancing and wearing face masks in public.
Reeves also is changing the guidelines with social distancing for gatherings:
• Where social distancing is able, gatherings inside can be up to 50 people and outside up to 100 people;
• Where social distancing is not able, gatherings inside should be no more than 20 people and no more than 50 people outside.
Hospitals must reserve at least 25% for COVID-19 patients Reeves said. Schools can also open for summer learning as needed.
