Save-A-Lot closed its doors Sunday after three-and-a-half years in Columbia.
Vendors were in the discount grocery Tuesday morning clearing out merchandise, and a note on the front doors informed customers it had closed permanently.
Store Manager Chad Flowers declined to comment, other than saying it was a business decision and that they had other stores where they were moving the food.
The store opened in December 2015 at 924 Mississippi 13 S. It had 14 employees as of August 2018. Its closure leaves four grocery stores in Columbia: Pic N Save, Walmart, Ramey’s and Wise Buys.
Save-A-Lot has more than 1,300 stores in 36 states, some of which are corporately owned and some by licensees.
