A grand jury has indicted a 19-year-old Kokomo man for allegedly burning a man by throwing gasoline on him and igniting him using a cigarette lighter.
Preston A. Fortenberry is charged with aggravated assault – extreme indifference. If found guilty, he faces one to 20 years in prison.
According to the indictment filed May 23, Fortenberry and another man, who has been indicted but not arrested as of Monday, caused second-degree burns to the trunk, arms and legs of Ronnie Beasley on Nov. 4, 2018. The incident happened off Mississippi 586 in Kokomo, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Fortenberry, who was booked on June 5, is out on $50,000 bond.
