Plans are already under way for this year’s annual Kiwanis Club of Columbia Christmas Parade.
The parade is slated for 6 p.m. Dec. 1, according to the committee. This year’s theme is “A Superhero Christmas.” The parade will be held in conjunction with Candlelight, Carols and Claus, making it a night to enjoy entertainment and shop downtown.
The parade annually attracts thousands of viewers and hundreds of participants to downtown Columbia.
The parade route for this year is currently being finalized and will be announced soon.
Applications to participate will be available at the Columbia-Marion County Public Library located at 900 Broad St.
A mandatory meeting for organizations wishing to enter a float, band or group in the parade is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. in the meeting room at the rear of the Magnolia Grille. Registration materials will be available at the meeting. Participants will be given a numbered placard at the meeting and cannot enter the parade area without it. Attendees at the meeting will have the chance to go over rules and procedures for the parade.
Any applications submitted after Nov. 16 will need to be turned in at the office of the Berry Law Firm at 329 Church St.
