Marion County Circuit Clerk Janette Nolan said Tuesday afternoon that there had already been a large turnout in the general election/presidential election.
Results of the election were not available as of press time Tuesday.
Election Commissioner for Beat 4 was the only local contested race on the ballot. Republican Thomas Rowell was being opposed by Independent Stacy Reagan.
Statewide there were a couple of contested races including for U.S. Senator. Incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith was being challenged by Mike Espy for the senate and Initiative 65 regarding medical marijuana was also on the docket.
The biggest race on the ballot was the presidential election with President Donald Trump being challenged by former Vice President Joe Biden.
Nolan said there have been no major issues regarding voting as of press time. One voter said he went to vote at his precinct and was told he had already voted. He said he filled out an affidavit. Nolan said she was investigating the matter, and as long as the affidavit is filed, his vote will still count.
