The Columbia-Marion County Public Library is hosting two of its summer programs throughout June around its theme “a universe of stories.”
An early literacy program for children from birth to 5 years is each Tuesday in June from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone planning on attending should register at the library or by calling 736-5516.
On each Thursday in June is Astro Camp in partnership with NASA for kindergarten through 12th grade. Library staff received training and will be running the program that is heavy on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). It is held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and each session lasts about an hour and a half.
On June 6 they participated in a Skype visit with NASA about the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing.
June 27 will be the library’s signature end of summer reading program Wetdown day at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited. There will be an activity inside and the wetdown at 2:30 by the tennis courts.
