A shooting that left an Expose man wounded has led to charges for another Marion County man.
Burnett Flowers, 30, of Columbia was arrested shortly after the incident that occurred near 1:30 Sunday morning at 98 Ratliff Loop in Expose.
Capt. Pete Williams of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said witnesses told deputies a shooting victim had been taken to the hospital. They met the victim, Clifton Kendrick Keyon Ratliff, 29, who as at Marion General Hospital in the process of being airlifted to Forrest General Hospital.
Williams said through speaking with Ratliff and witnesses, it was determined that Flowers was the suspect.
“He was taken into custody a short time later,” Williams said Tuesday. “He has been charged with aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon.”
Williams said Ratliff is still in stable condition at Forrest General Hospital. No bond had been set for Flowers as of deadline Tuesday.
Flowers was previously a defendant in a 2009 murder case, pleading guilty to accessory after the fact in the death of Tashodrick Daniels during a dice game in Expose.
