The Marion County Development Partnership annual banquet, which is 6 p.m. Thursday at the Magnolia Grille, is already sold out.
“It is exciting,” Lori Watts, president of the MCDP, said of the sellout.
The banquet has been an ongoing event for more than 100 years dating back to when the MCDP was the Chamber of Commerce. It has been an annual event with a few years missed here and there, Watts said.
She said she believes the increase in participation in recent years is reflected as more are recognizing the relationship and working with the MCDP together in moving the community forward.
The program will be focused on celebrating the contributions to the improvement of the community by member businesses and citizens as the decade ends and a new one begins. Watts said they want to express their gratitude for the various and diverse people who contribute to the community in their own way.
“The banquet is always a time when our members come together to enjoy a meal and celebrate where we have been and where we are going,” Watts said.
Awards that will be presented include Business of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, the Maurice Dantin Leadership Award and, new for 2020, Celebration Awards. Those will recognize businesses and individuals who have made a special impact on the community in various ways, Watts said.
