The A.C.T.S. Fellowship of pastors, churches and ministry Leaders will host its 10th annual Holy Convocation at New Life Fellowship Church in Columbia Thursday through Sunday.
Across the weekend, there will be vendors, displays and free medical testing. Saturday, there will also be a food vendor on site. All services are free to attend and open to the public.
Founded in 2009, the A.C.T.S. Fellowship was founded as a fellowship to provide accountability, covering, training and support for pastors, churches and ministry leaders. A.C.T.S. Overseer is Terry L. Weems, senior pastor of New Life Fellowship churches. The convocation planner is Pastor Tasha Dillon. This year’s theme is “Here I Am, Send Me” from Isaiah 6:8. The schedule will be as follows:
Thursday: Worship and prayer service begins at 6:30 p.m.
Friday: Midday Bible class will be at noon taught by Minister Jennifer Harris of New Life Fellowship Church, and lunch at a local restaurant will follow. Doors open Friday evening at 5:30 for leadership training sessions at 6 p.m. covering “Security” by Capt. Clint McMurry of the Columbia Law Enforcement Training Academy; “Personal Evangelism” by Rev. Gregory Partman of McComb; “Ministry and Mental Health” by Terry L. Weems; and “The Escape Room” will be provided for children and youth. Praise service begins after. Pastor Antonio Johnson of Owens Chapel Baptist Church is the speaker. Guest music will be rendered by T’Yun Marshall and Da Guyz of Magnolia.
Saturday: Doors open at 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Free continental breakfast is served until 8:40 a.m. Opening plenary with devotion will be by Pastor David Daniels of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Empowerment sessions for personal development will be held for all age groups with various speakers including Elder Ulysses Brown Jr. of McComb; Columbia native and inspirational speaker Kendale Lumpkin and Pastor James Lowe of Hattiesburg; Sister Teresa Baxter of Columbia; and Pastor Tonyia Fairley Benton of Dallas (a Hattiesburg native). A “Be in the Know” forum will provide a meet-and-greet time for 2019 candidates as well as relevant information from medical health professionals. The annual Youth Explosion will close the day’s events. Guest speaker will be youth preacher Rev. Davion Brown of Brookhaven. Music will be rendered by the ACTS Fellowship Mass Choir, and there will be a guest performance by Jubilee Performing Arts Conservatory of McComb, under the direction of Terrance Alexander.
Sunday: Doors open at 3:30 p.m. There will be a clergy chat at 4. All clergy are invited to attend. The annual Official Service begins at 5, and the ACTS Fellowship Mass Choir under the direction of Valerie Bass Russell will be rendering music, with featured guest singers.
