A Mother’s Day visit to a son in the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility landed a Marion County woman behind bars.
Correctional officers discovered suboxone concealed on Susan Singley, 46, of Sandy Hook, as she visited her son, Anthony Gleason, 26.
“It is suspected that she was attempting to bring the narcotics to her son,” Major Zach Guidroz said. “The arrest was made during reg-ular visitation on Sunday.”
Singley was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. Bond was set at $2,500 and posted Monday, and Singley is awaiting a court appearance.
Suboxone is designed to treat addiction to opioid painkillers or heroin, but it can be abused itself.
Gleason is serving 15 years on two counts of grand larceny from Rankin County, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections website. He was transferred to Marion County earlier this year. According to the MDOC, his tentative release date is set for July 21, 2030.
