Columbia police are investigating a shooting Friday afternoon at 721 Dale St.
A man was shot inside the home and taken to Marion General Hospital, with plans to take him to Forrest General in Hattiesburg.
Police placed a woman in handcuffs and took her from the home after speaking with her for several minutes. Police Chief Michael Kelly said she admitted to shooting the man, but the cause of the shooting was not clear yet.
He said the woman came out of the home and was putting children into the car to take them to the police station to report the shooting because she didn’t have a means to call police. A neighbor saw her and dialed 911, and officers arrived on the scene.
Kelly said the woman was also being treated at the hospital.
The identities of the shooter and victim have not been released yet.
