A Sandy Hook man was killed in a head-on collision Saturday on Mississippi 48.
Charles “Wayne” Stogner, 35, lost his life in the wreck that happened near the intersection of Mississippi 48 and Military Road in Sandy Hook.
According to Master Sgt. Justin Elkins with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Stogner was driving a blue 1996 Chevrolet 1500 westbound, when he crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a white 2019 Dodge Caravan being driven by a woman from Poplarville.
Stogner, who was unrestrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the caravan, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown to Forrest General Hospital with serious injuries. The three other restrained passengers were transferred to a local hospital for observation. The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the van’s driver and passengers.
The crash is still under investigation.
Visitation will be held for Stogner at 11 a.m. with the services beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Sandy Hook Baptist Church, according to a Facebook post on Stogner’s page.
