Marion County’s own version of Dancing with the Stars will take the stage Thursday.
The American Cancer Society fundraiser is set to be held at the Magnolia Grille and features local acts showing off their skills on the dance floor.
According to organizer Carla Kyzar, the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins with a cocktail party. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m. Charles Carter, a one-man show, will perform.
“It’s on a Thursday night so you can start your weekend early,” Kyzar said. “It won’t take up your weekend.”
Jacob Harrison is the emcee and the event features dancers including Columbia High School Assistant Principal Jay Rayborn and recently-retired Principal Sheila Burbridge, Taylor Fortinberry with a solo act, Katie Zehentner with a “surprise” partner and Marion County’s own Distinguished Young Woman, Kaitlyn Bradford.
“We’ll have some surprises, too,” Kyzar said.
This is the third time the local American Cancer Society has held the event as a fundraiser.
“People can call me for tickets or get them from one of the dancers,” Kyzar said. “The ticket gets you dinner, Dancing with the Stars and a party with Charles Carter. He is so talented.”
Tickets are $400 for a table of eight or $ 55 for an individual. For tickets or information, contact Kyzar at (601) 441-9724.
