Three teens were arrested this week and charged with auto burglaries in Lakeview after a resident saw people running from his garage and followed them until they got in their car.
Joseph Lefebvre, 18, and Tamaj Ishman, 18, both of Columbia, and a 17-year-old were charged with three counts of auto burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call from a resident of Melba Street early Wednesday morning stating that they saw two persons running from their garage, according to Investigations Capt. Pete Williams.
“The homeowner followed the suspects, who got in their vehicle and left the area,” he said. “The vehicle was stopped and two adult males and one juvenile male were taken into custody. Investigators have since received calls in reference to auto burglaries on Stonewood Drive and on National Guard Road.”
Williams said that while executing a search warrant on the vehicle, property from both the Stonewood Drive and National Guard Road burglaries was recovered.
Ishman and Lefebvre were taken to the Marion County Jail. Ishman’s bond was set at $20,000 and he posted bond Wednesday. Lefebvre was also charged with DUI (first offense) and trespassing according to his booking card. His bond was set at $22,000 and he remained in the Marion County Jail as of deadline Thursday.
The 17-year-old was placed on house arrest pending a juvenile hearing. Cases involving minors go through a different court system than adults and the proceedings generally are not public record.
