Columbia police arrested a man late last week who was spotted stealing tires from Southern Tire Mart.
Lt. David Ezell and officer Seth Blackmon made the arrest at the Mississippi 35 location Thursday evening, according to Detective Lt. Jonathan Harrison.
“He was caught on video several days in a row stealing tires,” Harrison said. “The thefts occurred in the evenings around the time of our shift change.”
Harrison said the officers went to the facility at the appropriate time and found Hilbun at the scene allegedly stealing tires.
“The shift caught him in the act,” Harrison said.
Hilbun had a woman in his car later identified as 18-year-old Aleaha Prickett, who had a contempt of court warrant. Hilbun was charged with grand larceny and his bond was set at $20,000. Prickett’s contempt warrant carried a $200 bond.
“A manager from Southern Tire Mart came down to sign charges on Hilbun,” Harrison said.
Both suspects bonded out on Friday.
