A property owner in northeast Marion County reported she saw a relative coming out of a trailer on her property just before a blaze burned it down Tuesday morning.
Arson investigators were set to come to the scene at 137 Russell Lane Wednesday. It has a Sumrall address but is in the Christian Union community in Marion County.
Pamela Willis, who owns the property, said the structure had been part of a family dispute. She told the name of the relative she said started the fire to a Marion County sheriff’s deputy on the scene.
“Nothing but the devil,” Willis said, shaking her head as she watched the remains of the trailer burn late Tuesday morning.
The initial call said it was a controlled burn that was getting close to a power line, but the situation was different when the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department arrived, President Dewayne Stuckey said. Tri-Community responded with two trucks and three firefighters.
