Monday’s steady rain potentially played a role in at least three accidents Monday, but none of the accidents caused any serious injuries.
The first accident happened Monday afternoon on Old River Road by Bill Cook Lane in the Edna community. A Baber’s box truck was traveling towards Hwy. 13 South when it went off the road and into the ditch. The truck then caught on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, and there were no injuries.
The second accident happened just a little after 5 p.m. on U.S. 98 near Mississippi 35 South. The driver lost control on the wet road, hit a ditch, flipped and landed in the median strip upside down.
Later in the evening around 9:30 p.m., a Nissan Sentra driven by a teenager on Richland Creek Road got caught in some wet leaves, causing the vehicle to leave the road before landing in a ditch. The driver and the passengers were all under the age of 18. No one was injured in the accident.
