Work to redo Sumrall Road and Walter Payton Drive is set to begin on June 8, according to Columbia Mayor Justin McKenzie.
Dunn Roadbuilders had the winning bid for the $339,650 project. It is expected to take two weeks.
The city borrowed $500,000 to pay for the improvements with the intention to make the payments with the internet sales tax the city receives.
Sumrall Road and Walter Payton Drive have several deep potholes and has been an area of complaints for the Board of Aldermen.
Work will also soon begin on the four-month long project through Community Development Block Grant to upgrade water and sewer lines around Willow and Pine drives and Hendricks and Dukes streets.
