The good thing about the regular season in September is there’s another football game to be played the next week. The Trojans are thankful for that because they will get the opportunity to wash the 56-0 loss to Columbia out of their mouths this Friday when they travel to Forrest County AHS.
It will be a good opportunity for West Marion (1-3) to get back into the win column against the Aggies (0-4), who have a hard time getting going in 2021.
“They’re kind of like us,” Trojans head coach Brandon Thornhill said. “They’ve got a couple guys they trust in. Their quarterback, Avery Sledge, is a big kid around 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4 who will throw it a little bit and run the football. (Keeghan Rogers) is their best back and a solid player. Past those two skill players, that’s what they rely on.”
On the defensive side of the ball, Thornhill said the Aggies have a few guys that can really play but that the Trojans match up pretty well.
“We’re very similar to each other. It should be a good football game,” he said.
Forrest County AHS lost to Seminary 14-13, Pass Christian 30-20, South Jones 49-14 and Stone 50-28. The Aggies have a propensity to give up big plays and have struggled with turnovers at times this season, much like West Marion.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
