Confidence remains high for Southern Miss despite 60-54 loss to Mississippi State

A late second-half surge by Mississippi State was the difference in Southern Miss' 60-54 loss to the Bulldogs. Yet the Golden Eagles showed that they are more than capable of being a postseason team again after going head to head with a team fresh off an appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Breaking down this week’s playoff scenarios

Columbia already won its district title, and West Marion has the opportunity for a district title Thursday. East Marion, by virtue of forfeiture, locked up a playoff spot with Friday’s win.
