Miss USM speaks at Rotary Club

Columbia Rotary Club President Jodie Broom introduces Miss University of Southern Mississippi Vivian O'Neal during Tuesday's meeting. O'Neal was named first runner-up in the Miss Mississippi pageant on June 26 in Vicksburg. She plans to seek her master's degree beginning Jan. 1 at USM and recently worked on Capitol Hill assisting Sen.

Household hazardous waste day set for Oct. 16

The Marion County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is set for Saturday, Oct. 16. After cancelling the event last year due to the pandemic, the collection is once again returning to the county.
The collection will take place at the Marion County Transfer Station on Mississippi 586 in Foxworth from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Students earn CPR certification

Health Science II students at the Carl Loftin Career & Technology Center have earned a two-year certification in Basic First Aid, CPR and AED for Health Care Providers. Students were instructed in compression only CPR and two rescuer CPR with a bag-valve-mask by instructor Seth Loman with CPR Stars Mississippi.
